  • SEC implements internal control provisions of Sarbanes-Oxley Act; adopts non-exclusive safe harbor from the definition of investment company for certain R&D companies.

    The SEC's press release is available HERE. The SEC is expected to publish the texts of the new rules on its website soon.

    NYSE and NASD have filed with the SEC amendments to their research analyst rule proposals that were originally filed with the SEC in October 2002. The amendments are designed to address certain requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, among other things. The SEC is expected to act on these proposals before July 30, 2003, which is the date by which the Sarbanes-Oxley Act requires rules addressing its requirements be adopted.
